Remedy Entertainment's new CEO draws fan backlash — Polygon

Remedy Entertainment has appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its new CEO, effective March 1, and the hire has been met with almost universally negative reactions online. The studio is best known for story-driven games such as the Alan Wake series and Control, though other releases like FBC: Firebreak have not fared as well.

The leadership change followed a profit warning in October 2025 and the departure of Tero Virtala after almost a decade in the role, with Markus Mäki serving as interim CEO. Critics pointed to Gaudechon's past roles: at EA he ran live-service operations for FIFA Mobile and FC Online, he spent two years at the sports-betting site Sleeper, and two years at OneFootball, which offers match odds that link to a licensed betting partner's site.

Many fans worry those experiences could influence Remedy's future monetization, given how live-service models and betting platforms can veer into predatory territory.
