Resident Evil Requiem reworked from solo Leon stealth idea into two-character hybrid
Pcgamer reports that Capcom's January 15, 2026 Resident Evil showcase published a lengthy presentation for Resident Evil Requiem, revealing new footage and gameplay features.
The game will co-star series mainstay Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace, with their sequences described as roughly even in length; game director Koshi Nakanishi called Requiem "essentially two games in one." Nakanishi said the team "actually tried to make a genuine horror game with Leon," but "sure enough we thought that people wouldn't want to see a timid Leon. That was the overwhelming opinion, at least."
The showcase also highlighted that zombies in Requiem "retain characteristics from when they were alive," with examples such as a zombie nurse and a custodian who continues to clean while undead. Leon's gunplay has been refined to reward targeting different body parts, and crafting specialized injectors requires infected blood extracted from infected enemies, preferably after killing them. Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 26, and the video covers pre-order bonuses and a partnership with Porsche.
