Reynolds pockets Racecourse turf after Wrexham's FA Cup win over Forest
According to Goal, Ryan Reynolds was seen picking grass from the Racecourse Ground pitch before Wrexham’s third-round FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest, taking a piece of turf home as a memento ahead of the match that was ultimately decided on penalties.
Deadpool star Reynolds, a regular in North Wales often accompanied by fellow co‑owner Rob Mac, watched a game in which Wrexham led 2-0 and 3-1 before being pushed beyond 120 minutes; they held their nerve in the shootout after Arthur Okonkwo saved Omari Hutchinson’s decisive penalty. Reynolds has collected turf since the 2021 takeover, building a keepsake collection with wife Blake Lively and their children. Mac told The Athletic he keeps pieces in small bags that were framed by his wife, and Reynolds has said on the RobRyanRed podcast that he likes to "bring a piece of that home every time," calling the Racecourse Ground in some senses "a holy ground."
Reynolds joined wild celebrations captured for Series Five of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, and Mac posted on social media after watching from afar: "Over two hours nonstop. You guys are incredible." Manager Phil Parkinson called it "a big night for the club, it really is," and the co‑owners remain committed as Wrexham pursue promotion to the Premier League and welcome further investment at the Racecourse.
