Pcgamer reports Riot Games has added Raymond Bartos, a former World of Warcraft lead producer, to its League of Legends MMO development team.

More than five years after the MMO was first revealed — three years since Greg Street left Riot and two years after the studio said it "reset" development — the project remains largely unseen. Bartos wrote on LinkedIn (via MassivelyOP) that he was impressed by Riot's values, saying "kindness, respect, and care aren’t just words here, but something the team truly lives by," and that he is "deeply grateful for the opportunity to join such an inspiring group of people" and "can’t wait to get started—showing up every day to provide value for Riot gamers and help deliver an MMO experience players truly enjoy."

Bartos also said he was excited to rejoin his "longtime duo partner" Orlando Salvatore, who moved from Blizzard to Riot in October 2024, adding "Given our track record on World of Warcraft, I have a feeling we’ll be moving fast on day one." Even with the hire, the project still has "nothing to show for it but promises that yes, it is still happening," and no public deliverables have been shared.
