Ripple unlocked roughly 1 billion XRP from escrow on February 1, then relocked 700 million XRP, leaving a net 300 million XRP added to circulation, according to on-chain data and Whale Alert. The unlocks were split across four transfers of 100 million, 400 million, 100 million and 400 million XRP, with a combined value of about $1.6 billion at execution.

Whale Alert reported two relock transactions of 400 million and 300 million XRP worth roughly $1.09 billion combined. The monthly releases are part of Ripple's structured escrow program introduced in 2017, which placed 55 billion XRP into escrow and allows up to 1 billion XRP to be released each month.

Ripple typically relocks between 60% and 80% of unlocked tokens, and that pattern repeated this month. XRP has seen price weakness amid a broader crypto market drawdown: BeInCrypto Markets data showed XRP declined 10.6% in January and fell to $1.50 on the final trading day of the month, its lowest level since the October market crash.

Early February losses exceeded 6%, and at press time XRP was trading at $1.57, down nearly 5% over the past 24 hours.
