Robert Duvall, 'The Godfather' and Apocalypse Now legend, dies aged 95
Robert Duvall, acclaimed for his iconic performances in The Godfather films, Apocalypse Now, Lonesome Dove and Network, died last night at his home in Middleburg, Virginia. He was 95.
His acting career stretched over seven decades, beginning in the late 1950s. Over that time he amassed more than 140 acting credits and worked with icons from several generations.
Duvall continued working until his death; his most recent appearance was in the period horror The Pale Blue Eye with Christian Bale. Across his career he established himself as one of the most respected actors in Hollywood, collecting many accolades including a Best Actor Oscar for his role in the 1983 movie Tender Mercies.
He was born January 5, 1931, in San Diego. His birth name was Robert Selden Duvall.
