Lonesome Dove Sees Spike in Streams After Robert Duvall's Death
Following the sad passing of Robert Duvall on February 15, audiences revisited his work and the 1989 limited series Lonesome Dove saw a massive spike in viewership. FlixPatrol data shows it was the most-watched show on the domestic iTunes charts on February 17, ahead of Halt and Catch Fire, Landman, and Parks and Recreation.
Based on Larry McMurtry's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the four-part series originally aired on CBS and features Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Diane Lane, Chris Cooper, Anjelica Huston and a young Steve Buscemi. McMurtry also co-wrote the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain and wrote the novel that inspired Terms of Endearment.
