Rockstar launches Cfx Marketplace to sell GTA V and RDR2 mods
Kotaku reports that Rockstar Games has launched the Cfx Marketplace, described as "a curated digital storefront" that will allow a select group of creators to share and sell mods for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II.
Cfx announced the marketplace on January 12, saying it is aimed at FiveM/RedM creators and server owners and will offer purchasable props, scripts, maps and more. The storefront includes some free mods, options that require a $23.99 recurring monthly fee, and bundles costing upwards of $467.99, and Cfx has partnered with a "select group" of modders for the initial launch.
The move arrives against a backdrop of a fraught relationship between Rockstar/Take-Two and modders, including a wave of DMCA takedowns that began in 2019 and several notices issued in 2025 to mod teams such as the Liberty City Preservation Project and others. It is unclear how much, if any, revenue Rockstar or Take-Two will receive from Marketplace sales; commenters have suggested the storefront could make mods less vulnerable to takedowns, and the timing has been called "somewhat suspicious," with the launch described by the author as resembling a possible trial run for a future Grand Theft Auto VI mod marketplace, though that information is not confirmed and details about revenue splits are absent from official Cfx news posts.
