Roku OS 15.1 adds Subscriptions hub to surface titles across paid services
Roku is quietly rolling out OS 15.1, which adds a new Subscriptions hub on the home screen that gathers paid streaming services and shows Continue Watching, Newly Added, and popular and trending titles, ZDNET reports.
The Subscriptions menu appears on the left side of the home screen above Settings and pulls together several categories across the services you subscribe to, including trending and popular picks, Continue Watching, Newly Added, your Roku Save List, and a breakdown of what’s included in each subscription, according to ZDNET.
ZDNET’s Elyse Betters Picaro highlights the Newly Added category as particularly useful: it surfaces recently arrived movies and shows across all paid services so users don’t have to open each app and hunt for new content, saving clicks and scrolling.
The article also says the Subscriptions menu can recognize paid services even when those subscriptions are managed outside of Roku (the author cites Disney+ as an example) and can aggregate Continue Watching across apps; selecting a title launches the correct app and resumes playback where you left off.
Roku OS updates roll out gradually, so Subscriptions may not be available to every device immediately; if OS 15.1 is available it should install automatically, or you can check manually on your Roku by going to Settings > System > Software update, the report notes.
