Rollins and Carisi's anniversary dinner turns into a home invasion on SVU
Nbc reports that Detective Amanda Rollins and A.D.A. Sonny Carisi’s second-anniversary dinner in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27’s "Career Psychopath" — the January 22 episode — devolved into a home invasion.
The episode opens with the couple celebrating Rollins’ return to the 16th precinct and their second year of marriage; Rollins arrived late, Carisi poured wine and stepped away for a shower. Rollins then noticed signs of a break‑in and found Carisi held at knifepoint by a masked assailant. They briefly subdued the attacker, who escaped in a getaway car, leaving them rattled.
Rollins plunged into the investigation and linked the attacks on high‑profile members of the justice system to Henry Mesner, a repeat SVU villain manipulating events from prison with the help of an obsessed fan. Capt. Olivia Benson urged Rollins to step away and ultimately removed her from the case, but Rollins went behind Benson’s back to meet Mesner, feigned agreeing to his "promise — really promise" request to gain information, and used what she learned to secure an arrest while making clear she never intended to comply with his demand.
