Romero labelled an 'easy target' as Zamora pins down Spurs' defensive woes
Tottenham captain Cristian Romero has been warned he could undermine the team's collective efforts, with former striker Bobby Zamora pointing to the Argentine's temperament as a key problem. Romero has made headlines this season after publicly criticising the club's recruitment and then being sent off in the defeat at Old Trafford.
Zamora said Spurs' defence lacks organisation and singled out Romero as 'crazy', arguing opponents can routinely draw penalties or provoke a sending-off. "For me as a striker, that would be an easy target every single week," he added, saying the team needs a solid defensive foundation before it can push forward and create chances.
Others have echoed concerns about Romero's leadership. Former England boss Sam Allardyce said the World Cup winner 'does not learn' and suggested either removing the captaincy or instructing him to stay on his feet and, if that fails, take him out of the side.
