Cristiano Ronaldo missed another Al-Nassr match on Wednesday, left out of the squad for the 1-0 win over Turkmenistan side Arkadag in the AFC Champions League Two. The result, following a 1-0 first-leg victory, sent Al-Nassr into the quarter-finals. Manager Jorge Jesus selected a weakened starting XI, with none of his big hitters starting.

Ronaldo had staged a protest against the Saudi Pro League and the Public Investment Fund after the January transfer window, complaining of a perceived lack of support for him and Al-Nassr compared with rivals Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. He objected in particular to Al-Hilal’s signing of Karim Benzema, missed three games during the dispute and was publicly warned by the league about his conduct.

He returned to score against Al-Fateh at the weekend but did not make the squad for the second-leg tie.
