Rooney warns Tottenham are in a genuine relegation battle

Wayne Rooney warned Tottenham are embroiled in a relegation fight after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United left the club sitting 15th. Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, he said the side must stop looking at the top six and start worrying about teams like Nottingham Forest and West Ham. Rooney described the situation as a "genuine relegation battle" and added that players will be "looking over their shoulders" if form does not improve.

A major talking point was captain Cristian Romero being sent off for a late challenge on Casemiro. Rooney called the red card "a little bit harsh" and sympathised with a momentary loss of composure, while also criticising Romero's wider discipline and recent comments about the squad's lack of players, saying vocal players must back that up with performances.
