Rosanna Arquette to recur as Renée Ballard’s mother in Ballard Season 2

Collider reports that Rosanna Arquette has been added to the cast of Ballard for Season 2, set to recur as Jenny Ballard, the estranged mother of Renée Ballard (Maggie Q).

The show changes the mother’s name from Makani in Michael Connelly’s novels to Jenny, but sources close to production say the emotional DNA remains intact. Jenny is described as a "damaged free spirit," someone who’s spent her life trying—and failing—to fill a void she never quite understood.

Ballard follows Detective Renée Ballard as she runs the LAPD’s underfunded cold case unit, where methodical investigations gradually uncover a conspiracy inside the department; the series has been tied to the larger Bosch-verse through guest appearances by retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver).
