Ruark's MR1 MK3 desktop speakers make game soundtracks sing
Ruark hasn’t changed the MR1 MK3 dramatically from the previous model, but a series of small refinements make this 2.0 speaker set easy to recommend. The luxury feel starts at unboxing — velvety pouches, premium packaging and little brand notes — and that attention to detail carries through to the listening experience, which often feels like a form of self-care rather than mere playback.
The design remains close to the MK2, with two colour options: Satin Charcoal and a darker Rich Walnut that adds character without shouting. The wooden chassis is slightly larger than before, so fitting the speakers under some monitors may be trickier, but the system is compact and comes with a handy remote; there are onboard controls on the right speaker, though they’re rarely needed.
Internally Ruark borrows amplifier tech from its R410 hifi, using 2x 25W nominal Class D amplifiers, the same 20mm silk dome tweeters as the MK2, and a Ruark NS+ 85mm long-throw woofer with a natural fibre cone.
