Ruben Amorim seen walking in snow after Manchester United sacking
Goal reports that just hours after he was sacked by Manchester United, Ruben Amorim was seen heading out for a wintry walk in snow-covered streets with his wife, Maria Joao Diogo, and spoke briefly with photographers. Amorim was informed in the morning that he was being dismissed and, rather than immediately flying to Portugal, opted to face the press and walk in Hale, a wealthy suburban area of southern Greater Manchester where he has lived for the vast majority of his time in charge.
He and his wife were spotted by photographers and shared brief, courteous pleasantries, with onlookers wishing him good luck. The outlet says Amorim's tenure collapsed amid an explosive attack on the club hierarchy, poor results and a breakdown in relations with United chiefs. He remained committed to a 3-4-3 system — once saying "not even the Pope" could persuade him to change — and finished with a 31.9 per cent win rate, described as the worst of any permanent United manager in the Premier League era; tensions over transfers and his role culminated in his dismissal by director of football Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich told the BBC that finding a replacement is a "massive task," saying: "I think the original mistake was to try and replicate Sir Alex Ferguson because you aren't going to get another one.
