Movieweb reports a fresh update on Rush Hour 4 that outlines distribution discussions, production plans and early story teases for the long-anticipated sequel.

According to the report, a distribution deal has not been finalized, though Matthew Belloni of Puck News suggests Paramount has agreed to give the film a domestic release in 4,000 theaters; that theatrical commitment was reportedly a requirement of Warner Bros. and would trigger international deals needed for financing. Producers Tarak Ben Ammar and Bahman Naraghi have reportedly raised roughly $100 million so far but have not locked in Jackie Chan or Chris Tucker, and the budget could be pressured given both actors made more than $20 million on Rush Hour 3 (though without salary parity).

The story is said to center on wildlife poaching and would send Agents Lee and Carter on a global investigation, with filming expected in China, Africa and Saudi Arabia. The report also notes that Rush Hour 3 underperformed at the box office and holds a 17% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and that Chan and Tucker remain interested but impatient; Chan told Screen Rant in May 2025, "Ask the director, ask the studio, ask the writer. Hurry up!" Production is reportedly being eyed for spring or summer, but key deals with the stars and final distribution arrangements remain unresolved.
