Collider reports that Ryan Coogler’s horror film Sinners is now number one on HBO Max’s streaming charts after the film made Academy Awards history.

The outlet says Sinners raked in 16 Oscar nominations, making it the film with the most nominations of all time.

Sinners follows Sammy (Miles Caton), the young son of a preacher who loves music and wants to help his cousins Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael B. Jordan) run a new juke joint. A villainous vampire named Remmick (Jack O'Connell) traps Sammy, the twins and their guests in the bar. The film also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo, and was written and directed by Ryan Coogler; it was released April 18, 2025 and runs 138 minutes. Collider lists Sev Ohanian, Zinzi Coogler and Ryan Coogler as producers.

Collider highlights the film’s music by Ludwig Göransson, noting songs such as "Last Time (I Seen the Sun)," written by Göransson and Raphael Saadiq, and says the movie has inspired Halloween costumes and internet memes.

The outlet says fans are revisiting or discovering Sinners on HBO Max now, where the film is streaming.
