Ryan Reynolds' IF surges on Paramount+ after lukewarm theatrical debut
According to Movieweb, IF (released as Imaginary Friends in some regions) is enjoying a major streaming rediscovery on Paramount+, with the Ryan Reynolds- and Cailey Fleming-led family film challenging The Naked Gun and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning for the top spot on the service's global chart.
Written and directed by John Krasinski, the film features voice performances from Steve Carell, Awkwafina, Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Sam Rockwell, Emily Blunt, George Clooney, Phoebe Waller Bridge and Bill Hader. The synopsis says IF follows a girl who discovers she can see everyone's imaginary friends and embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids.
The movie originally grossed $190 million and carried a 51% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it currently holds an 85% audience score on the RT Popcornmeter and has attracted many recent five-star audience reviews.
