Amazon has cut the price of AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X by 22%, lowering it to $390 from its $499 launch price, pulling one of AMD’s strongest consumer CPUs into a more reasonable price bracket for high-end gaming PCs and serious upgrades.

Released a little over a year ago, the Ryzen 9 9900X sits near the top of AMD’s consumer lineup and features 12 cores and 24 threads, designed to handle more than gaming alone.

The processor runs at a 4.4 GHz base clock and is fully unlocked, with the ability to boost up to 5.6 GHz under ideal conditions, which can help with faster renders, video encoding and CPU-heavy competitive games when paired with a capable graphics card.

AMD’s Ryzen Master software offers real-time monitoring and custom profiles for power or efficiency, but the 9900X does not include a stock cooler; AMD recommends pairing it with a quality liquid cooling solution to maintain stable boost behavior during heavy workloads.

At $390 the 9900X remains a premium component but is far more approachable; CPUs at this tier tend to age gracefully, and this model can serve as the foundation of a system for high-refresh gaming and content creation for years.
