Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Monday that the Arizona home of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy, is being treated as a “crime scene” after Nancy was reported missing. She was last seen Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. at her home in Catalina Foothills, Ariz., authorities said.

“We believe now, after we process that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime and we’re asking the community’s help,” Nanos said, adding, “She did not leave on her own.” He described circumstances at the scene as “suspicious in nature.” Nanos said Nancy was “sharp as a tack” and “isn’t somebody who just wandered off,” and he urged residents to check their home security cameras for any footage that could aid the investigation.

“We need help,” he pleaded to the public. The sheriff’s office has Nancy’s cell phone and plans to analyze it for leads, and search-and-rescue teams were searching by ground and air. Nanos said the state of the home following her disappearance raised “some concern for us.” Savannah Guthrie skipped Monday’s Today show and traveled to Arizona.

In a statement shared by her co-hosts she thanked supporters and law enforcement, saying the family’s focus “remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” and encouraged anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
