Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy, has been reported missing in Arizona, TODAY announced Monday, February 2. Guthrie was absent from the February 2 episode of the show, and co-anchor Craig Melvin opened the broadcast by saying Nancy Guthrie "has been reported missing in Arizona." Not much is known at this time.

According to TODAY, Nancy was last seen by her family on Saturday night, January 31, between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. at her home outside Tucson and was reported missing the following day, February 1, at noon. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said some things about the scene at Nancy's home have caused "grave concern," per TODAY, adding, "You don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this, but it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house." TODAY shared a statement from Savannah: "On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.

Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900." Co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager said on the February 2 broadcast that Nancy is currently without the medication she needs to survive.

Sheriff Nanos said Nancy is "very alert" and of "very sound mind" with "no cognitive issues," though she does have some physical health issues.
