Savannah Guthrie says 'we will pay' for mother's return
Savannah Guthrie posted a 20-second video on Instagram saying the family "will pay" for the return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, who has been missing since Sunday. Guthrie appeared to be addressing a potential abductor. "We received your message, and we understand," Guthrie said, sitting between her two siblings in the video.
"We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay." The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI said they were aware of a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie.
"Investigators are actively inspecting the information provided in the message for its authenticity," the sheriff's department wrote. Guthrie did not identify a specific individual, and it was unclear what message she was referring to. There have been reports of multiple ransom notes, and federal officials arrested a California man accused of sending a fake ransom note.
