Savannah Guthrie Will Not Co-Host Olympics Opening Ceremony
Savannah Guthrie will no longer co-host the 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony following the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy. "Savannah will not be joining us at the Olympics as she focuses on being with her family during this difficult time," an NBC Sports spokesperson said, and Guthrie is in Arizona with her family as the search continues.
NBCUniversal announced that Mary Carillo will join Terry Gannon in hosting the Opening Ceremony; it will be Carillo's 17th Olympic Games as a sportscaster. Ahmed Fareed will host Olympic Late Night on February 7 through 9. Live coverage of the Opening Ceremony begins Friday, February 6, at 2 p.m.
ET, with primetime coverage at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock. Nancy Guthrie was last seen by her family on Saturday night, January 31, at around 9:45 p.m. and was reported missing the following day at noon. Arizona authorities are treating her disappearance as a possible abduction and a crime investigation.
