Scott Pilgrim Ex, a continuation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic series, will launch digitally on March 3, Tribute Games announced via a new trailer. The trailer reveals two new playable characters: Matthew Patel, one of Ramona Flowers' many evil exes, and Robot-01, who was created by the Katayanagi Twins for the purpose of beating up Scott.

Set in a version of Toronto overtaken by a trio of rival gangs, the game has Scott, Ramona, and their friends battling to free members of local band Sex-Bob-omb, who have been kidnapped and robbed of their instruments. The trailer says the city’s residents are being "terrorized by demons, vegans, and robots," and suggests time travel may be required to solve the gang problem.

Tribute Games earlier announced Roxie Richter and Lucas Lee as playable characters; in total the roster will include Scott, Ramona, Matthew, Robot-01, Roxie, Lucas and one final playable character to be revealed before launch, Tribute Games said in a press release. The game features a new story co-written by Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley and Tribute Games.

O'Malley described the project as not really a sequel to the Netflix anime, the comics, or Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, but a whole new chapter in Scott's story. The soundtrack will be by Anamanaguchi, the band behind the original game's chiptune OST.
