Scott Pilgrim EX launches March 3 with Matthew Patel and Robot-01 playable
Scott Pilgrim EX has a release date and a new trailer: Tribute Games says the game will be out March 3 and will include League of Evil Exes’ Matthew Patel and Robot-01 as playable characters. Tribute describes the title as a spiritual successor to the 2010 brawler with a more RPG-lite approach, including non-linear quests and exploration.
The studio recently helped launch Marvel Cosmic Invasion, another retro throwback. The Kotaku Morning Checkpoint roundup noted the announcement made the game the writer’s most anticipated release of the winter. Other items in the roundup: a Monster Hunter Wilds PC performance patch fixes an issue where system load could increase around the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub due to claimed content status checks, which Kotaku said could help bring the Steam version more in line with consoles ahead of the game’s one-year anniversary.
Jagex SVP James Dobrowski told GamesIndustry.biz the studio has a “pretty hard line stance” that no generative AI will be present in assets players can “touch, hear or feel,” though the company is open to AI for tooling efficiency. Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi told Automaton the team spent a lot of time polishing Leon’s visuals, with women developers closely reviewing fine details.
Separately, Arc Raiders’ community lead Julia Ossen told fans on Discord the studio has been under “extensive, coordinated DDoS attacks” that are still ongoing while mitigations continue.
