'Scrubs' Revival Already Has Too Many New Characters
Scrubs Season 9, also known as Scrubs: Med School, is widely remembered as a failed attempt to continue the sitcom after eight strong seasons. The 13 Med School episodes have since been removed from the show's main timeline and are now treated as an alternate reality with no canonical link to Seasons 1–8 or the upcoming return.
The revival appears to be repeating one of Med School's biggest missteps by introducing a large group of new faces. The incoming cast members have been teased on the show's social channels with five brief sneak peeks of new doctors, plus additional Sacred Heart employees in non-medical roles, even as most of the original main cast returns.
Notable absences include Neil Flynn's Janitor and Ken Jenkins' Dr. Kelso, and Sam Lloyd's Ted cannot return following his 2020 passing. With the revival slated for a nine-episode first run and no confirmed second season, there is concern that packing in so many newcomers may leave the original characters with insufficient screen time.
