Scrubs Revival Must Answer These Seven Questions
Med School’s 13 episodes have been walked back, leaving the Season 8 finale from 2009 as the last official look at the characters. Seventeen years on, the new Scrubs episodes must account for a long, unseen stretch of time and resolve several loose threads left by the series’ original run.
Central mysteries include why J.D. and Elliot, shown married and expecting in Med School, are no longer together in the revival, and why the Janitor—one of the show’s most beloved figures—apparently doesn’t appear. The trailer suggests J.D. is returning to a hospital that feels frozen in time, and viewers will want an explanation for the Janitor’s absence, especially after Med School offered the practical but awkward rationale that he left when J.D.
was gone. Other character arcs also need updating. Dr. Cox still teaches new doctors but seems frustrated by a lack of response, and it’s unclear whether anyone has filled the mentor role J.D. once occupied.
