Movieweb published a first look image from Cristian Mungiu's Fjord that shows Sebastian Stan startlingly unrecognizable alongside Renate Reinsve and their on-screen children. Fjord follows the Gheorghiu family — Romanian father (Stan) and Norwegian mother (Reinsve) — as they settle into a remote Norwegian village and bond with the neighboring Halbergs.

The children of both families become close friends, but when the Gheorghius are suspected of disturbing behavior their lives are thrown into chaos under small town scrutiny. Mungiu, whose previous work included his Palme d’Or–winning 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, wrapped production in late 2025 and the film has been picked up by Neon for distribution.

Fjord has not been given a release date, though with filming completing last year it could land in cinemas before the end of 2026. Stan has undertaken numerous transformative roles in recent years, from Fresh and Pam & Tommy to A Different Man and a prosthetic-heavy turn as Donald Trump in The Apprentice.
