Second Teenager Dies After Frisco Sledding Crash That Earlier Killed Her Friend
A second teenager, Grace “Gracie” Brito, has died following a sledding accident in Frisco, Texas. Brito’s family confirmed to CBS affiliate KTVT that she died on Tuesday, Jan. 27; the crash occurred on Sunday, Jan. 25 at approximately 2:26 p.m., according to a Frisco Police Department news release.
Police previously said two 16-year-old females suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident. One of the girls, later identified by family and loved ones as Elizabeth Angle, died after the crash; Brito had been on life support and died two days later, KTVT reported. Frisco police said the teens were riding on a sled being pulled by a 16-year-old driver in a Jeep Wrangler when the sled struck a curb and slammed into a tree.
Grace’s mother, Tracy Brito, told KTVT the family is “heartbroken and devastated” and remembered her daughter as “a kind and generous soul, full of love, affection, and warmth” with “gentle strength.” The outlet reported Grace had recently gotten her driver’s license, had registered as an organ donor, and was an All‑Star cheer competitor at Express Cheer in Frisco.
People reported teammates and coaches paid tribute to Elizabeth Angle. Luis Ramos, coach of a FC Dallas club team, wrote on Facebook that Angle was a center back who served as a “calm voice” on the team and “knew what it meant to stand her ground.” A WHS soccer post also asked the community to keep Angle’s family, teammates, coaches and classmates in their thoughts.
