Thief 2 fan mission Selection Day casts you as a partly blind judge
Pcgamer reports that Selection Day is a newly released fan mission for Thief 2 that puts you in the role of a court judge tasked to 'Seek Remedy for Your Blindness' after an Ocular Superior leads you into a strange building. The mission is set in a post‑Metal Age City afflicted by sinkholes and blindness, where an elaborate braille system, strange eyestalks and machines that project braille into the air guide the blind.
Your vision in Selection Day is limited rather than absent: rooms and objects are visible only as texture‑less black‑and‑white outlines at short range, you cannot judge light and shadow, and the mission plays more like a puzzle box than a traditional stealth level. You start without Thief's usual weapons or equipment, guards still patrol, and sound is used heavily—Selection Day folds Thief's sound propagation into several puzzles.
The mission leans into surreal and often comic details—plaque descriptions that read things like "Probably a landscape", secret doors that reveal pools buzzing with flies (hinting at toilets and septic tanks), unexpected music and even monkey noises—and its fiction deepens as the map unfolds.
