Sam Raimi's Send Help continued its strong run in its third weekend, taking in another $8.8 million domestically — a drop of just 3% despite being pulled from 500 locations nationwide. That small decline helped the film achieve a higher per-theater average in week three than in week two.

The survival horror, starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien as co-workers stranded on a deserted island, has pushed its global total to just shy of $75 million, edging toward twice its reported $40 million budget. In the process, it moved up the all-time horror ranks, passing Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods, which earned over $70 million in 2012.

Critics have responded warmly: on Rotten Tomatoes Send Help sits at 93%, tying Raimi's 2004 Spider-Man 2 as his highest-rated film in more than two decades.
