Sesko rescues draw as Carrick's perfect start ends at West Ham
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham as Michael Carrick's perfect start as manager came to an end, but a 96th-minute equaliser from Benjamin Sesko kept his unbeaten run intact. Nuno Espirito Santo's game plan largely stifled the visitors and Tomas Soucek gave the Hammers the lead in the 50th minute.
Luke Shaw failed to clear and, despite efforts from Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo, Soucek met Jarrod Bowen's cross to finish at the near post. Carrick introduced Sesko and the substitute delivered, deftly flicking a late cross into the top corner — his second stoppage-time goal in three games.
United had less than two minutes to find a winner but could not secure a fifth straight victory. Ratings highlights include goalkeeper Senne Lammens (6/10) for an excellent save, Luke Shaw (4/10) for the error that led to the goal, and Casemiro (7/10) as one of the brighter performers.
