Coverage from Nbc notes Shaun White, nicknamed "The Flying Tomato" for his red hair, is an Olympic snowboarding champion and a half-pipe specialist who competed in five Olympics: Turin (2006), Vancouver (2010), Sochi (2014), PyeongChang (2018) and Beijing (2022).

White has three Olympic gold medals, having taken first place in Turin (2006), Vancouver (2010) and PyeongChang (2018). He has never won a silver or bronze and, according to the coverage, came in fourth at Sochi (2014) and Beijing (2008). White has said his third gold meant the most to him after a near-career-ending 2017 accident.

"[The third gold] was so hard to get. On my way to that Olympics, I had this horrible accident where I ripped my face open, 62 stitches, pulmonary contusions, like I’m bleeding in my lungs," he recalled, saying he was "considering retiring or quitting" but returned to win in PyeongChang: "I’m the last rider to go and I did it.
