She‑Ra reboot at risk of becoming lost media
When She‑Ra and the Princesses of Power ended in May 2020, Adora and Catra finally got their happy ending. Now the Netflix reboot, long celebrated as a milestone of queer storytelling, is set to leave the service on February 21 and will no longer be available to stream; with only three seasons out of five on DVD, it could become lost media.
She‑Ra is not the first Netflix original to depart the platform. The series was produced by DreamWorks Animation Television for Netflix, and shows produced by others are removed when exclusive licensing arrangements expire, which explains why it won't stay on the platform forever.
Series creator ND Stevenson addressed the impending removal: "Unfortunately, we’ve known about this for a while, and it’s already happened to several other Dreamworks shows as their licenses with Netflix expire. Years of hard work by many talented crews have ended up without a home.
