Shia LaBeouf's arrests: a history of run-ins with the law
Shia LaBeouf has a long record of arrests spanning more than three decades. He was most recently taken into custody after a brawl during Mardi Gras in New Orleans on Feb. 17, 2026, and was charged with two counts of simple battery. Footage showed the shirtless actor being treated by paramedics, though it was not clear what sparked the scuffle.
He had been in New Orleans for Mardi Gras celebrations since the week before. LaBeouf’s encounters with police began in childhood. At age 9, in 1996, he was held for six hours after stealing a pair of Nike Cortez sneakers, an episode he later recounted in an essay titled “Error Breeds Sense” in the 2015 book Prison Ramen.
Two years later he was detained again for stealing a Gameboy Pokémon from Kmart.
