Polygon reports that Ira Parker, showrunner and executive producer of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, said he removed one planned defecation gag from the series while leaving several other graphic bathroom jokes in place.

Four minutes into the premiere, the show depicts former squire Dunk (Peter Claffey) half-squatting behind a tree with his pants down and a very explicit bowel mishap after nerves over entering a jousting tourney. Parker told a press day, "I swear to God, I only use three poop jokes this entire series," adding that they are "all character-based" and that the series is "an earthy" and "gritty" show showing life as it is.

Parker said an early writer's-room idea would have shown Dunk and Egg near medieval public latrines when "somebody's rope snaps, and they fall into the [trench]," but he judged that concept "too far" and cut it, noting "there is a limit as to how much poop and fart jokes we will allow in this show." A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms airs on Sunday nights on HBO through Feb. 22.
