Simu Liu says Shang‑Chi sequel is still in development
Movieweb reports that after nearly five years, Simu Liu told PEOPLE that Marvel Studios is still developing a sequel to the 2021 film Shang‑Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Liu said he did not have "a whole lot to tease" but reassured fans that "it is happening." He is set to appear as Shang‑Chi in the event film Avengers: Doomsday and in Secret Wars. With original director Destin Daniel Cretton moving on to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel faces a choice for a new director; Liu offered a shortlist of potential helmers — Chloé Zhao, The Daniels, and Lee Isaac Chung — which the report noted are three Oscar‑nominated filmmakers.
Liu emphasized there is not much to reveal now, and beyond his assurance that the follow-up is being made, further details and timing remain pending.
