Sky developing TV adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Collider reports that Sky is moving forward with a television series that will episodically adapt Stieg Larsson’s 2005 novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, described in reports as a “bold and contemporary reimagining” of the story that first appeared on screen in David Fincher’s 2011 film.
Behind Her Eyes creators Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna will write and executive produce the project alongside Left Bank, with Lightfoot (The Punisher) and LaManna (The Haunting of Bly Manor) credited as writers. The series follows an investigation into a decades-old missing persons case, in which journalist Mikael Blomkvist pairs with hacker Lisbeth Salander to uncover the truth and expose corruption and fraught family dynamics; Left Bank Pictures’ Andy Harries, Charlotte Moore and John Phillips, plus Sky’s Sam Hoyle, are also listed as executive producers.
Sony Pictures Television is reportedly seeking prospective buyers in the U.S., while the series is slated to appear on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. No casting details have been released.
