Skyrim designer doubts TV adaptation's prospects
Collider reports that Skyrim design lead Bruce Nesmith told PressBox he finds a television adaptation unlikely, arguing the fantasy market is already saturated and that Fallout’s uniqueness made it easier to translate to TV. Nesmith said Fallout is distinct in a way The Elder Scrolls is not, noting, "There is nothing like the Fallout universe anywhere else in gaming."
He added that while The Elder Scrolls might work better as a movie than a series, he would struggle to see it succeed on television. "Maybe a movie, but I would struggle to see a TV show," Nesmith said, and cautioned that "they're not going to make a ton of money off it."
There are currently no plans for a Skyrim adaptation; Todd Howard previously told IGN "no," saying Fallout worked because it "wasn't forced" and "things aligned" for a high-quality series. Fallout Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Prime Video.
