A new tiny mod called No Load Door NPC Fade, made by modder wSkeever, fixes the odd way NPCs look when they open doors in Skyrim, PC Gamer reports.

The issue happens during load-screen transitions: NPCs pop doors open a crack, reveal a sliver of darkness, then fade out. In the split second before they vanish their lighting and shadows break, hair and facial transparencies fail, and they appear to "light up" in an unnatural way — PC Gamer likens it to Uncle Fester with a lightbulb in his mouth.

The No Load Door NPC Fade mod addresses that visual glitch and is just a one-kilobyte download. PC Gamer's writer called it a blessing and added it to a short list of essential Skyrim mods by wSkeever.

The article notes that the author had previously searched for a mod to replace fuller door-opening animations and was told it would be impossible; removing the door-opening animation entirely had been considered before, with the Get On With It mod mentioned as an existing workaround.

PC Gamer's piece does not detail how widely the new mod has been adopted or any compatibility notes, but presents No Load Door NPC Fade as a simple, immediate fix for the jarring door-transition visuals.
