Skyrim on Switch 2 Adds 60FPS Mode and Multiple Fixes
Bethesda released update 1.2 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Switch 2, adding a 60 Hz performance mode and locking the framerate at 30 Hz when players choose “Prioritize Visuals.” The game was shadowdropped in December 2025 and initially drew criticism over poor performance, visual glitches, bugs, and a large install size; the new options aim for smoother, more stable play.
Patch notes shared online on February 17 list several crash and performance fixes. Fixed issues include a crash when reading “The Crimson Dirks Vol. 4” in German, an audio-related crash, a freeze when rapidly selecting “Load,” and a crash tied to repeatedly casting “Transmute Ore.” FPS improvements were made for the Hide and Seek quest in Kynesgrove, combat at Secunda’s Kiss, discovering Drelas’ Cottage, and combat with a giant at the Talking Stone Camp.
Visual fixes address water planes that shifted when viewed from a distance or in menus, distant aspen trees appearing blue, and lingering cave entrance outlines during load transitions.
