Ubisoft has teased a new Rainbow Six Siege operator that appears to be Solid Snake in a 15-second video that opens with Sam Fisher on a Codec call; the teaser ends with the Year 11 roadmap reveal set for February 15 at 8AM PT. The clip shows a neck-down shot of a figure resembling Solid Snake moving through smoke and unholstering what looks like a SOCOM pistol with an unusual sight, while the character himself does not speak.

If the 15-second video is to be taken at face value, the teaser suggests Snake is coming to Siege. PC Gamer notes this would be the first playable operator drawn from outside the Tom Clancy universe, though Rainbow Six has previously done collaborations for cosmetics. The teaser raises obvious questions about how an outside franchise icon would be integrated into Siege.

The article says it feels tonally dissonant to put Solid Snake — described as a “cheesy 80s-style action hero” conceived by Hideo Kojima — alongside Siege’s roster of serious global commandos, but adds that such a move wouldn’t be wholly out of step with the game’s recent, more tongue-in-cheek cosmetic direction.

On gameplay, the writer speculates about how Snake’s sneaking toolkit might translate into Siege: possibilities mentioned include the Soliton Radar, a directional microphone, thermal goggles, the small wheeled drone from MGS4, or a more ballistic loadout.
