ZDNET reviewer Jada Jones reports that Sony's LinkBuds Clip include removable ear‑fitting cushions designed to address common fit and stability problems with clip‑on open‑ear earbuds.

The review says the cushions come with the earbuds at purchase, similar to eartip replacements for in‑canal models, and that they close the gap between the hooks and the ear so the cushions can engage the helix as an additional support anchor. Jones says the cushions eased soreness and ear fatigue she previously experienced with clip‑on designs, kept the LinkBuds Clip more stable during movement, and helped maintain more consistent audio and voice pickup.

The reviewer adds she has not seen third‑party products that address the same issue and notes people whose ear anatomy already suits clip‑on earbuds will not need the cushions. Jones hopes other manufacturers follow Sony's approach, and says that at the LinkBuds Clip's $230 price point a maximized fit and audio experience is essential.
