Sophie Turner and Kit Harington reunite onscreen in Gothic horror The Dreadful
Movieweb reports Sophie Turner and Kit Harington have reunited onscreen in The Dreadful, a Gothic horror film revealed in a first look ahead of its February release. Entertainment Weekly published the first look, which shows Turner and Harington as Anne and Jago; the cast also includes Marcia Gay Harden, Jonathan Howard and Laurence O'Fuarain.
Writer‑director Natasha Kermani wrote and directed the film, and a Letterboxd synopsis says it is set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses and follows Anne and her mother‑in‑law Morwen, who live a solitary, harsh life until a man from their past returns and sets off a turning point for Anne.
Turner previously teased the project, saying, "I can tell you that it's based on the Onibaba… I don't even know what year it's from, but it is loosely based around that. I would say it's a bit like The Green Knight. It's kind of supernatural and weird and really scary." Kermani said, "Working with this cast was a joy from start to finish, and of course, to see Kit and Sophie back together onscreen was a special thrill.
