Sovereign Tea, a turn-based tactics game about tea vs coffee, is now free
Sovereign Tea, a turn-based tactics game from developer 3 Halves about an eternal war between tea and coffee, is now free, the studio said in a blog post. The change, the post explains, will be permanent.
The game casts 12 Tea Princesses who must band together to protect their realms from an invasion by the Coffee Empire. It features more than 40 Tea Minions that players can "brew" by mixing ingredients, with each minion type carrying different stats and roles.
Developer 3 Halves highlighted how ingredients change unit behavior: "Units brewed with raspberries tend to trigger their abilities whenever they get hit by an enemy, so use them to counter multi-hit units." The studio added that "units brewed with blueberries usually have a trigger to deal loads of damage, so force them into a situation where the enemy has no choice but to fight them."
Sovereign Tea originally launched with a price back in 2021, but 3 Halves says it has made enough money and wants "everybody to play, including those who previously could not afford the game." The PC Gamer post links to the game on Steam.
According to the developers blog post, the move to make the game permanently free is intended to broaden access; no other changes or future plans were detailed in the article.
