How we spent $1,600 on a 2-day trip to Disney World
We spent about $1,600 total — roughly $800 each — for a roughly 48-hour visit to Disney World while passing through southern Florida. Flights from Fort Myers to Orlando were $237, and our value resort, All‑Star Music, cost $319 for two nights; it provided enough space for a short stay and included complimentary bus transportation to the parks.
After a $25 snack and a nap, we headed to Magic Kingdom for the evening. We attended Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party using two unused tickets from a prior year, paying a $21 difference, which let us enter Magic Kingdom at 4 p.m. and stay until midnight. The event included an ornament, a Mickey-shaped peppermint marshmallow, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate (about $30 worth), performances, a parade, fireworks, character meet-and-greets, and access to classic rides without buying Lightning Lane passes.
Snacks and souvenirs added up — a ham-and-Gruyère croissant with chips was $11, popcorn refills were $2.50, character ears were $46, and a commemorative event pin was $23.
