Stardew Valley's 1.7 update is generating buzz as the game approaches its tenth anniversary. Creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone has tried to temper expectations and avoid stirring "too much hype," but the patch is shaping up to be substantial, promising new farm types, extra romance options, and wider social changes.

There is no release date yet; major Stardew updates come years apart and version 1.6 launched in March 2024. Barone confirmed, "There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it's happening," and said his simultaneous work on Haunted Chocolatier may conflict "a little, but not as much as you might think." He conceded he maybe should've waited to announce Haunted Chocolatier, while noting that Stardew updates "always deliver." Two new marriage candidates are on the way, with more details promised for the game's anniversary on February 26.
