Reporting by Gamesradar notes that after 15 years of development, 10 years of post-launch support, and an adoring fanbase in the millions, Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone still feels like an amateur and hopes that sentiment will help Haunted Chocolatier keep its indie soul.

Barone tells IGN: "I'm a very amateur developer. I still feel that way. I'm just a total amateur." He says bringing in more developers to help with Stardew Valley on things like localization and multiplayer has been so helpful, and he still describes his approach to making games as "very scrappy."

He is hopeful that feeling like an amateur will help Haunted Chocolatier keep its indie spirit intact.
