Reddit user Holozard left their Nintendo Switch on for over three weeks straight, spending more than 150 real hours to have their character sleep for 1,000 years in Stardew Valley.

They set the game to repeatedly rest, using a controller with a turbo button to hit A and a hair tie to walk right automatically; the console crashed nine times and the controller developed stick drift.

The long sleep transformed their save, which they named Sleepwell Farm: villagers appeared immortal, chickens were left merely “grumpy,” and giant mushrooms, meteorites, weeds and debris spread across almost every tile in town, from the square and the Community Centre to Joja Mart.

On waking, Holozard found lots of purple rocks across the farm and said they made almost half a million in mushrooms, leaving them satisfied with the experiment’s results.
